Developed a curated image library for Merkle by exploring and testing multiple visual treatments to establish a distinctive brand aesthetic. The focus was on moving beyond generic technology imagery to create authentic, human-centric visuals that feel relatable, evoke emotion, and reinforce the brand's personality. The resulting image library helped ensure consistent, meaningful, and engaging visual storytelling across brand and marketing communications.

To create a distinctive and authentic visual language for Merkle, we established a clear direction for the stock imagery library that moved away from conventional technology visuals. Instead of relying on generic images of servers, code, or abstract digital graphics, the focus was on creating a human-centric image collection that reflects the people behind the technology.
The imagery was carefully curated around themes of People, Communication, Workplace, Technology, Design, and Innovation, showcasing genuine interactions, collaboration, creativity, and modern work environments. The objective was to make the brand feel approachable, relatable, and emotionally engaging while reinforcing Merkle's position as a people-first, technology-driven organization.
Multiple visual treatments and image styles were explored to ensure consistency across the library, resulting in a collection that enables cohesive storytelling and strengthens the brand's identity across global marketing and communication touchpoints.
The Arctic has long captured the imaginations of artists, explorers, and environmentalists alike. Its unique blend of stunning landscapes, extreme climates, and profound solitude provides an almost mythical canvas for artistic expression. The Arctic Gallery invites visitors to embark on a visual journey that bridges the gap between the artist’s interpretation and the natural world’s raw beauty. Through carefully curated exhibitions, the gallery offers a rare opportunity to experience art in a setting that mirrors the majestic yet fragile environment of the Arctic.
As visitors step into the gallery, they are greeted with an awe-inspiring collection of artworks—each piece a tribute to the beauty of the Arctic's icy expanses, rugged terrains, and snow-covered mountains. The gallery's collection draws inspiration from the distinctive polar landscapes, portraying not only the quiet serenity of the Arctic but also the dramatic, unpredictable changes driven by global warming. Artists, both indigenous and contemporary, use various media—paintings, sculptures, photography, and digital art—to communicate the complexities of the region, providing visitors with a multifaceted understanding of the Arctic.
To establish a distinctive visual identity for Merkle, we designed a series of image treatments that transformed standard photography into recognizable brand assets while maintaining consistency across all communications.
The primary image treatment features a fluted glass effect, where the Merkle Bug (the iconic triangular brand element) becomes the focal point of the composition. The treatment subtly reveals and frames key areas of the image, creating visual depth while drawing attention to the brand's signature graphic element. This approach ensures that every image is immediately identifiable as part of the Merkle visual language.
The secondary image treatment incorporates a prism-effect overlay, introducing subtle light refractions and gradients that complement the imagery without overpowering it. This treatment reinforces the brand's visual system by integrating Merkle's graphic language and design elements into photography, creating a cohesive and flexible image style for use across campaigns, marketing collateral, digital experiences, presentations, and brand communications.
Together, these treatments established a scalable photography system that elevated stock imagery into a distinctive brand asset, ensuring visual consistency while giving Merkle a more premium, contemporary, and human-centric aesthetic.
